Have you ever wondered how to become a wedding officiant or questioned whether you have the right personality for it? When I started my journey in March 2022, I never imagined I would fall in love with officiating weddings. In fact, I didn’t think I had the personality for it at all. Becoming a wedding officiant isn’t about being bubbly or high energy. It’s about creating meaningful, personalized ceremonies that reflect each couple’s love story. If you’ve been thinking about taking the leap, let me share my experience and why it might be the best decision you’ll ever make.
I reconnected with my longtime friend, Stephanie Courte, founder of Rose Gold Celebrations. Stephanie had recently become a wedding officiant and encouraged me to take the course with Rose Gold celebrations. Stephanie is an extremely bubbly, high-energy person. Qualities I didn’t see in myself. So when she suggested I become an officiant, I was taken aback. I thought, “That’s not me.” Funny how we see ourselves isn’t always how others see us. I trusted Stephanie and took the leap by enrolling in the course. Honestly, my initial plan was to preside over funerals rather than weddings.
But a few months after completing the course, I officiated my first wedding…and I loved it! The couple and their family loved me too. That was the beginning of my love story with weddings, because I truly love officiating weddings! It gives me the opportunity to be creative, to witness love up close, and to be part of one of the happiest days of people’s lives. Every ceremony is a thrill, and I feel privileged to play such an important role.
Not every couple wants someone who is super high energy and bubbly. Some prefer a calmer presence or different qualities, and that’s okay! There’s someone for everyone. Each ceremony is custom to the couple, and that’s what makes this role so special. If you’ve hesitated to take the leap and become a wedding officiant, I hope my story inspires you. You don’t need to fit a certain mold. Couples are looking for officiants who can make their ceremony personal and meaningful. If you’re considering taking the wedding officiant course, trust me, you can do it, and you’ll love it!
